I Don't Like Sound Baths: Sound Therapy Day 4
Guided meditations and sound baths had their moments, but I kept going back to what actually worked for me.
Day 4
Going into guided meditations and sound baths, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Would this be a calming, immersive experience or just feel like someone whispering instructions at me?
Pretty quickly, I realized something.
Much like binaural beats, sound baths just didn’t work for me.
The deep, immersive tones felt more stressful than relaxing.
And that’s okay. Not every sound therapy technique is going to click.
Why sound baths didn’t quite land for me
I gave them a real shot, but much like with binaural beats, I felt overwhelmed instead of calm.
The droning tones were too much, and instead of zoning in, I just felt more distracted.
I think part of it was the format.
A true sound bath is meant to be experienced in person, where you can actually feel the vibrations around you.
Listening through headphones or speakers just wasn’t the same.
It wasn’t a total fail, though.
Some sound bath recordings were interesting, and I can see why people like them. But for me? Not my thing.
The guided meditation experience
The guided meditations helped more than the sound baths, though they weren’t life-changing.
Some of the ones I tried through apps and YouTube videos were nice, but they didn’t have the same impact as the nature sounds and Minecraft music I had gravitated toward in previous days.
Have you ever tried guided meditations or sound baths? Did they work for you? Let me know in the comments.
In the end, I found myself naturally drifting back to what worked. The sound of nature, the ambient instrumentals.
That’s what made me feel grounded. That’s what actually helped.
Wrapping up four days of sound therapy
This wasn’t a total fail, just a reminder that not every sound is for everyone.
And that’s the whole point of experimenting.
Figuring out what resonates and what doesn’t.
After four days, I know this: nature sounds and ambient music are what truly work for me.
They help me feel calmer, more present, and actually in tune with my surroundings.
Those two things are probably why I like the Minecraft music.
I think I just now realized that Minecraft has always been an unspoken safe space for me.
Final takeaway? Sound is powerful, but the right sound is personal.
That’s the end of this sound therapy experiment. Let me know what sounds work for you!
