Join host Josh Lopez and trauma therapist Joshua Doumani as they discuss generational trauma, its impact on relationships, and what motivates Joshua to help others. He shares how his own past experiences inspire him to support people on their healing journeys.
A snippet from the episode, where Josh asks Joshua if he has discovered his purpose:
I think that purpose is ever evolving in every season.
I think that If I looked exactly where I am now, if I didn't go through anything that I went through, there's no way I would be here.
I always say, I think that's why I believe I am a good therapist is because I've actually had to heal so much of my trauma.
And so as a result of being able to sit there and say—I know what it's like to have depression, I know what it's like to go through a suicide attempt, I know so many of these things—I also know what it took to heal.
I also know what it took to navigate. And I would say that those things have allowed me to be a better therapist.
And so I would say my purpose as of now is to help people heal and live a whole fulfilling life. And I would say that it's probably going to keep on evolving and changing as I grow, evolve and change.
